Lisa Muratore brought Kindermusik to Dallas in 1997. Since then, the Sound Steps studio has grown to reach hundreds of families throughout the Dallas area.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music education, piano performance, and music theory; a Master of Music Education; and a Master of Theology. She was recently recognized by Azusa Pacific University as an outstanding alumnus from the School of Music.

Before teaching Kindermusik full-time, Lisa taught music in public and private elementary schools in Dallas. She also taught the Bodyrhythmics music and movement program at The Children’s Center Preschool from 2001-2010.

Lisa has received various awards from Kindermusik International:

  • Maestro Producer, representing the top 1 percent of Kindermusik programs worldwide. [2000-2010]
  • Maestro in Outreach, recognized for considerable efforts to reach underserved populations of children. [2003-2005 classes for Avance Dallas]
  • Professional Board Certification, recognizes educators who demonstrate dedication and achievement through classroom experiences and continuing education.

Lisa is originally from central California. Lisa and her husband, Robert Beckelhymer, occasionally treat their two cats to Kindermusik songs at home.

Barbie Hearne

Barbie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Baylor University with minors in Art and Earth Science. She is a part time elementary teacher and freelance artist/illustrator, specializing in personalized and whimsical designs, mostly for children.

Barbie began playing the piano at the age of 5 and continued studying for about ten years, participating in numerous festivals and competitions. She auditioned for and studied under Dr. Isabel Scionti, renowned concert pianist, as a child in Denton. After some college instruction, Barbie continued to play for personal enjoyment and fun, playing at times for several churches.  She has a lifetime love for piano and introduced her own daughters to the piano.  Barbie also played the drum and other percussion instruments while growing up.

She is most proud of her two (nearly) grown daughters who share her enjoyment of art and music. Barbie lives with her daughters and her husband, 3 cats, a large dog named Beasley and two hermit crabs.

 

Haley Denton

Haley recently joined Sound Steps upon moving to Dallas to complete her Master’s of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. She currently holds a Bachelor’s in Women’s Studies from Texas Woman’s University.

Haley began playing piano at the age of 8 and played in various competitions in Iowa and Texas until she moved to college in 2006. She has a love for all types of music and enjoys the lessons in precision, practice, and perseverance she has learned by playing the piano and violin. Haley no longer plays competitively, but has learned to enjoy the instruments just for the fun of it. When she’s not in class or teaching, Haley loves to take walks around the neighborhood, read, and serve in her church.

 

Hope Webster

Hope Webster is a Michigan native and has taught for Sound Steps since 2005. She has, however, been both a Kindermusik mom and Kindermusik educator since 1996. Her oldest daughter was 2 years old when she first attended a Kindermusik class and loved the curriculum. “It was a wonderful mixture of playing with, singing, cuddling and teaching my child. We shared the joy of music together.”

She has had the privilege of sharing that experience with each of her daughters in addition to teaching Kindermusik classes in a Maestro studio in Michigan that is similar to SoundSteps.

Hope holds a Bachelor of Science degree having double majored in Special Education with an emphasis on Mental Impairments and Psychology. Prior to being a mom to her daughters Angela, Lily, Robyn and Starla, she was both a teacher and social worker. Now she is a homeschool teacher to her children.

Her musical background includes playing the piano and flute as well as having served in the children’s education preschool music program in her local church.

 

Jenn Doss

Jenn holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and minor in Spanish from Sam Houston State University. She is a full-time high school Reading teacher in Richardson. She has taught students in music/reading from newborns to 18 year-olds for the past 10 years.

While living in New Hampshire, where she grew up, she spent two summers studying music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Jenn’s musical training ranges from 11 childhood years of accordion and piano to voice and percussion. Her father and brother are also music teachers as well as professional musicians, so it runs in the family!

Jenn continues to stay involved in music through teaching as well as her church choir, performing regularly. She plays piano, reads, and spends time with loved ones during her free time.

Jenn began teaching Kindermusik for SoundSteps in the spring of 2007 and developed SoundSteps’ Music and Spanish curriculum, “Uno Dos Tres Musica”.

 

Jenni Purser

Jenni began teaching with Sound Steps in 2008.  Her musical experience also includes being the music specialist at Lake Highlands Elementary in Dallas, TX.  She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a vocal emphasis from Hardin-Simmons University.  Jenni is married to Jason Purser and they have one daughter (and life-long Kindermusik student) Caroline and a dog, Boone.  Jenni enjoys singing, dancing, playing, and laughing with her Kindermusik families — both children and parents!

 

Jennifer Cleveland

Jennifer Cleveland is a licensed Kindermusik Educator and a private piano instructor. She joined SoundSteps in the fall of 2006. Before teaching Kindermusik, she was a music specialist in Richardson ISD. Jennifer has been teaching music to young children for 15 years in church and in schools. She graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Jennifer is married to Tracy and they have two sons, Dawson and Carson.

Jennifer has a passion to reach kids – and grown-ups! – with Kindermusik. “I love to see the children grow in each developmental stage – from crawling to walking and talking to singing! It’s an honor to walk alongside these parents in their journey and encourage them through Kindermusik. It brings me such joy to see parents smile with confidence as they watch their children make new discoveries in every class.” She has seen firsthand the benefits of Kindermusik by enrolling her 2 sons in classes since infancy. Whether it be language skills, coordination, or response to musical cues, Kindermusik has been pivotal in both Dawson and Carson’s early childhood development.

 

Jessica Garland

Jessica began teaching for Sound Steps in 2005 and teaches our Guitar Camps in addition to private guitar instruction.  She grew up in Northeast Dallas and attended Eastfield College where she studied classical guitar and was part of Voice and Guitar ensembles. She graduated from SMU with a major in Political Science and works full-time, but loves teaching guitar in the afternoons.

Kasey Mahan

Kasey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Angelo State University. She is a certified and licensed Kindermusik Educator. Kasey began her study of music at a very young age singing in the church choir and taking private piano lessons from her mother. Growing up under the teaching and care of a music educator in the home, Kasey naturally grew to love music and experience the value that her music education had on her development as a person. It was only natural that she pursue music for her college education and career.

She has been teaching private lessons for 2 years in her home and for the Richardson Independent School District. She is a patient, fun, organized, and well-trained music educator. She enjoys drawing, de cou paging, composing, and filming alongside her husband. She is married to Cody, an iphone developer and videographer, and together they care for their fluffy gray cat, Theta.

 

 

 

Kate Herman

Kate has a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Methodist University with a major in Psychology and minors in French and European Studies. Kate received private piano lessons for seven years and participated in the National Piano Playing Auditions for the National Guild of Piano Teachers for seven consecutive years, earning praise from judges such as, “Top Talent!”, “You make the music sing!”, and “See you in Carnegie Hall!” She also has experience playing for the children and youth choirs at Bishop Janes United Methodist Church in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Kate is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with SoundSteps and share her love for piano with others!

 

 

Kyle Padilla

Kyle has worked as a performer, worship leader, and as a rec center music leader. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Azusa Pacific University and is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Dallas Theological Seminary in Pastoral Music Media and Communications.

Le’Shea began teaching with SoundSteps in 2001. Her previous teaching experience including teaching preschool and leading a children’s choir. Prior to becoming a Kindermusik educator, she was a software instructor at Southern Methodist University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Le’Shea and her husband Mark have two children, Virginia and Christopher, who have enjoyed Kindermusik their entire lives.

 

Lowry Manders

Lowry joined Sound Steps in 2006. She has an undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance and a Master of Sacred Music from SMU. She has also served as the music teacher at Highland Park Presbyterian Day School for pre-school and elementary students and a minister of music. She loves to sing to her “Kindermusik kiddoes” , Michael James and Ellie.

Lowry offers “Parent with Purpose” and “Teach with Intention” seminars throughout Dallas’ parenting community. These classes help caregivers make connections with young children in authentic ways. Find out more and follow her on her blog, “Mommy Manders: Parenting with Purpose and Perspective”.

Nicole Gomez

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Music with a specialization in Music Therapy
and a minor in Psychology from the University of the Incarnate Word in San
Antonio, TX. Nicole’s musical background began before she was born,
listening to music in the womb. Her mother, a self taught guitarist,
played the guitar and grew up in a musical family which lead Nicole to an
inevitable love of music. She began playing the violin at 9, and learned
how to play the guitar, piano and took voice performance while at UIW.
Nicole has a passion for music, and continues to contribute her musical
and therapeautic abilities to those in need. She became a part of
Kindermusik in 2010 and looks forward to singing, dancing and creating
memorable musical experiences!

Nina Chavez

Nina Chavez is an accomplished flautist and pianist. In addition to teaching piano, she is the music teacher for preschool Faith Formations at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas, TX and a part-time elementary music and arts teacher at an area charter school. She spends a great deal of time volunteering with arts organizations such as the AT&T Performing Arts Center (Winspear Opera House and Wyly Theater) in the Dallas Arts District. Nina grew up in San Benito, TX, received her B.A. in Music from SMU, and now resides in Dallas, TX.

 

Sarah Hendricks

Sarah fell in love with music and dance at the ripe age of three in ballet lessons! Along her journey to her Bachelors in Music Education, she studied singing, several different kinds of dance and a variety of instruments. She has taught music in the United States and overseas for elementary and middle school students for over five years privately, and as a public school teacher.

Sarah’s philosophy of music education is centered around the joy of music and making sure all students feel valued. She is a perpetual learner and is constantly amazed by the power of music in our lives. She is excited to be entering the world of Kindermusik so she can continue to unlock music for her students and their families!
